Navigation inside our books is super easy! There are a couple of ways to go about it, depending on whether you're reading an Immersive Story, a regular book, or an audiobook.
Some of our books, the ones on our Immersive Stories shelf, have multiple ways that you can read.
To read with sound, light, and haptic effects that bring you deeper into the story, you can "unmute" the book using the Mute/Unmute button in the book menu.
If the story is unmuted, you can tap anywhere in the bottom half to go forward, tap anywhere in the top half (except for the very top) to go back, and tap in the very top to open the menu again.
Check out this screenshot for a visual breakdown!
If you'd rather read more like a traditional book, you can "mute" the immersive effects and it will allow you to scroll through like a normal book.
Clicking on "Chapters" will let you jump to a different chapter, or unlock chapters in bulk.
Clicking "Display" will let you change the book from Light mode to Dark mode, and make the text smaller or larger.
Clicking "Comment" will let you chat with other readers about the chapter you're currently reading.
Clicking "React" will let you send an emoji reaction to the chapter.
Not all of our books are Immersive Stories. If a book isn't on this shelf, the only option to read it is by scrolling through the chapters like a regular ebook at this time.
Galatea currently offers Audiobooks in English and German! Navigating audiobooks is just as easy as navigating through the other books we have.
When you open an Audiobook on Galatea, you'll have the option to open the chapters and switch the book to dark mode in the upper right, instead of the bottom menu.
At the bottom of the screen, you'll have the option to turn autoplay on or off. This will determine whether the app automatically unlocks and opens the next chapter for you. Please Note: If you are using points to listen to audiobooks, autoplay will deduct points automatically unless it is turned off.
You can also Play/Pause the audiobook, change the speed that the audio plays, or skip 15 seconds forward/backward.
