What is the Friends & Family plan?
The Friends & Family Plan is a subscription option that allows one person (the Plan Manager) to share Galatea Unlimited benefits with up to 4 additional people (5 accounts total). It's designed to let you enjoy thousands of romance bestsellers together with your friends and family members at a great value.
With a Friends & Family Plan:

How much does the Friends & Family Plan cost?
The Friends & Family Plan is priced at a premium to the Individual annual plan, but offers significantly better value per person when all seats are filled. The plan allows up to 5 accounts total, making it a cost-effective option for groups.
How do I purchase a Friends & Family Plan?
For new subscribers:
Purchasing a Friends and Family plan is easy! All you need to do is:
- Tap on the white floating G icon to see your subscription options
- Select “Friends & Family”
That’s it! Just complete your purchase and you’re officially a Plan Manager that can invite people to share your subscription!
For existing subscribers:
If you already have an individual subscription, you can easily upgrade:
- Go to "More" in the bottom navigation
- Select "Manage Subscription"
- Look for the "Other Plans" section
- Tap "Upgrade" next to the Friends & Family Plan option
- Complete your payment to upgrade
What happens if I upgrade my existing subscription?
When upgrading from an Individual plan to a Friends & Family Plan:
- iOS Users:: You'll be charged immediately for the Friends & Family Plan and receive a prorated refund for your remaining Individual subscription time.
- Android Users:: You'll be charged only the prorated difference between the plans for your remaining subscription period. For example, if you're 6 months into a 12-month individual plan costing $69.99 and upgrade to a $99.99 Friends & Family Plan, you'll be charged approximately $15 (50% of the difference between the plans).
Inviting People to My Friends & Family Plan
After purchasing or upgrading to a Friends & Family Plan, you'll be automatically redirected to the "Manage Friends & Family Plan" page where you can:
- See how many seats you have available (up to 5 total, including yourself)
- Tap on the "Share" button or an "Available Seat" to invite someone
- Share the generated invite link with your friends or family members
Your invitees will need to click your invite link and follow the instructions to join your plan.
Who can join my plan?
People can join your Friends & Family Plan if they:
- Live in the same country as you
- Are not current Galatea subscribers
- Have a Galatea account or create one when joining
- The plan is not already full (maximum 5 accounts, including the Plan Manager)
Plan Manager: Managing Your Plan
As a Plan Manager, you can manage your plan at any time by:
- Going to "More" → "Manage Subscription"
- Selecting "Manage Friends & Family Plan"
From here, you can view all current members and share invite links for any available seats.
Canceling your plan
As the Plan Manager, if you cancel your subscription, access will end for all members when the current billing period expires. All members will be notified that they no longer have access to the Friends & Family Plan.
Removing someone from your plan
To remove a member from your plan, you'll need to contact our support team. Please click "Submit a request" in the top right corner of this page, and specify which member you'd like to remove.
Joining a Friends & Family Plan
If you've received an invite link:
- Click the link on your mobile device
- If you're new to Galatea, you'll be guided through creating an account
- If you already have a Galatea account, simply sign in (or switch accounts if needed)
- Once confirmed, you'll join the plan and gain immediate access to Galatea Unlimited
What happens if I'm removed from a plan or the plan expires?
If you're removed from a plan or the plan expires, you'll see a notification when you open the app letting you know your subscription access has ended. The notification will say "Subscription Ended" and explain that you no longer have access to the Friends & Family Plan.
At this point, you'll need to purchase your own subscription or join another Friends & Family Plan to continue enjoying unlimited access.
I'm already a subscriber. Can I join a Friends & Family Plan?
No, existing subscribers can't join someone else's Friends & Family Plan, but they can upgrade their own subscription to a Friends & Family Plan and invite people to join in.
If you want to join someone else's plan, you will need to wait until your current subscription ends before accepting their invitation.
Why don't I have the option for the Friends & Family Plan?
The Friends and Family plan isn’t available everywhere - yet! We’re currently testing this feature in various regions and as soon as it’s available in your area we’ll be sure to let you know!
